Why is creating new habits so difficult?
It’s safe to say, it can be difficult to build good habits like getting up at 5 am to get an early morning workout.
Anyone can create a habit for a day or two, but it’s the long-term habits that can be challenging.
Thankfully there are a few simple strategies that we can all use to build good habits that last. I’ve noted two that can help get you going.
#1 Start with a habit that is so easy you can’t say no!
One of the most important facts about developing a new habit is to make sure you do it consistently. Remember “The key to success is consistency”.
To make a habit consistent, it has to be easily achievable so it becomes second nature. Sometimes starting small is a good thing as there’s time to pick up the pace on your habits. The goal is to prove to yourself that you can stick to the small things consistently before ramping up the pace.
Remember …. make your new habits so simple that you can’t say no to them!
#2 What is holding you back?
At times, we can procrastinate and reel off a long list of reasons why we can’t achieve our goals. If you feel like this sums you up, you’re not alone, we’ve all worn the t-shirt.
The solution is we need to do is get to the root of the issue to find out what exactly is holding us back from reaching our goals or developing new habits.
Once you know the specific parts of the process that hold you back, you can begin to develop a solution to solve that problem.
