We’ve come such a long way when it comes to using technology. A Welsh Mountain Rescue team in the Brecon Beacons applied to the Civil Aviation Authority to use drones for its search and rescue operations. The rescue team have now been granted permission by the CAA and have a total of 7 licensed drone pilots. This will make search rescue missions even more efficient.
Instead of traveling through rough terrain on foot or using 4×4 vehicles, drones can travel to hard to reach areas making search efforts easier.
The Brecon Mountain Rescue Team have waterproof drones which will be a must for the wet Welsh weather! By using drones for mountain rescue missions, it will help the rescue team to deliver medical supplies direct to the casualties as well as helping them view dangerous areas in the mountains.
